You stare at your reflection-not just the person, but the persona: The CEO. The Visionary. The Firestarter. And you wonder, &#8220;Do I still belong here?&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The answer, if you&#8217;re being honest, might be &#8220;no.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Founders are taught to hustle, to push through. That&#8217;s fine. But are you trying to build a company or curate a persona? You can&#8217;t scale both.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-a-joke-with-a-little-too-much-truth\"><strong>A Joke with a Little Too Much Truth<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>A founder walks into a meeting with a COO candidate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The candidate asks, &#8220;So what are you hoping I&#8217;ll take off your plate?&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The founder says, &#8220;Everything I don&#8217;t want to do, but also everything I do want to do, but better.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The candidate leaves.
