Revenue is steady. Churn is under control. CAC isn&#8217;t outrageous. And then someone-an investor, a board member, your inner voice that sounds suspiciously like a management consultant-says:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>&#8220;It&#8217;s time to diversify.&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And maybe it is. Or maybe you&#8217;re just bored.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The decision to add a second revenue stream is often framed as a growth lever. In fact, partnerships are a great low-risk way to test monetization without building an entirely new engine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-a-joke-but-make-it-hurt\"><strong>A Joke (But Make It Hurt)<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Founder: &#8220;We&#8217;re launching a second product!&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Team: &#8220;Cool, does that mean we&#8217;re done fixing the first one?&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-an-open-question\"><strong>An Open Question<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If your second revenue stream works, will it <strong>strengthen<\/strong> your business-or <strong>split<\/strong> it?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Are you building a business with synergy, or just&#8230; two products that share a logo?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A second revenue stream can be a force multiplier. Or it can be a slow bleed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Don&#8217;t do it because you&#8217;re tired of your current thing.
